Class one reception children have been very busy in the farm shop and are using the weighing scales to weigh out the fruit. Year 1 have also been comparing weight using scales looking at how accurate they can be and using them to compare everyday objects.
In writing, both reception and Year 1 children have been doing some independent writing of a traditional tale, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff.’ They have really shown some great progress in their work. We have also looked at making sure our sentences are correctly punctuated. The Year 1 children have even begun using some exclamation marks in their writing and improving their work to make it more interesting.
In science the children have looked at the climate and difference between our country and Africa, linking with our topic this term.
The children have also been working on playing African music and also learning some African dance moves in our music and PE lessons this week. It looks and sounds amazing!!
All of the children continue to work very hard in phonics and Year 1 are getting very good at finding the alternative spelling patterns.
